Bikini Hut Then and Now: A Family Business Story

It all started with a close family wanting to do something BIG. But how?

First, they had to discover what they loved enough to genuinely sell and promote. Thanks to the mother of the family, she knew how to start and run a business from her extremely successful 25+ year career in teaching aerobics. However, next she wanted to do something something different. That was always the goal... DIFFERENT. Because, different is what ignites creativity and gives a business (and life for that matter) the fuel to survive a long long time.

The Lindholm family thrived on the consistency of change, which helped their "different" business model blossom. What was one of their consistencies of change? Fashion. Fashion was EVERYTHING in this family; the purest form of change and healthy expression. That's what brought them joy each day. "What am I going to wear? How will this make me feel? Why not take risks? How do I want to portray myself to the world today?"

Then, they discovered the lack of fashion Portland, Oregon was yearning for - something the Lindholm sisters never had growing up in Portland, Oregon - Bathing Suits.

Bathing suits seem like an odd need in such a rainy place, huh? First goal achieved, "different"!

Well first of all, it's not THAT rainy. We do need more than a two week shopping season at Target to get by... summer times in Oregon are one of the best! Second, Oregonians love to travel. It is extremely spendy shopping abroad, so why not open a spot locally?

A mothers dream over night. A month-to-month 500 square foot space miraculously available upstairs in Downtown, Beaverton. WALLAH. In eight weeks time, Bikini Hut was born. They took Nike's famous motto "Just Do It!" and ran with it.

Now here we are. Three and a half years later. Bikini Hut is walking Portland Fashion Week. Designing and creating their own bathing suits out of pure heart and passion in Beaverton, Oregon. It may be rainy and cold in Oregon, but it's always sunny at Bikini Hut. They cannot wait to share their brand, personality, and style with you. Because trust me, it shows.
